I’m not completely sure what the overlap is like between my YouTube channel and my blog. If you’re following my acne update videos, then a lot of what I’m about to spill here won’t be news. You know how rough it’s been, especially the last month or so. You know my usual chipper personality took a punch to the gut over how severe my acne got. You know I reached the end of the line. Making the decision to go back on Accutane was deeply challenging on multiple levels. But I have to give myself one last chance.

I’m a fan of homemade remedies for acne and oily skin. They’re cheap, you know what all the ingredients are, it’s fun to make each little potion and they usually work. Not always, but most of the time they do. But trying to pick out which ones are worth trying can be low key irritating – which is literally the last thing anyone needs. So here are my top 3 picks for homemade DIY toners, for acne and oily skin.

For way too long, I’ve had problems with my hair: annoying, flaky dandruff, bone-dry frizz and oily grossness were all things I figured were simply my life. I’d accepted my fate! But since going vegan, I’ve been re-assessing a lot of things in my life, including my beauty and hair care products. Davroe was a vegan brand that kept coming up time and time again. Benzoyl peroxide. If you’ve ever had acne, there’s a fair chance you’ve heard of the stuff. Used all over the world for decades, it’s an absolute powerhouse ingredient that kicks acne bacteria’s butt.¬†Loads of brands use it as a key ingredient, such as Acne.Org. Their ‘Treatment‘ is brilliant, and it works. If you need to slap a lot of BP all over your mug then it’s the way to go. Problem is… it’s online. Cue Benzac AC.

Growing up with acne, I heard about a thousand and one things that were either very very bad for my skin, or very very good. People are generally quite helpful, or at the very least think they are. So offering up gems of advice such as “Just rub this salt on your skin, it will help!” were not uncommon, just a bit mis-guided.

Walking down the aisle of my local Coles recently, I saw another new brush from yet another brand, trying to crack into the beauty brush business. It never used to be this way – I used to only get confused by exfoliation scrubs, now I have to deal with mechanical whiz-bang brushes too? I blame the Clarisonic. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, since the Clarisonic revolution, we’ve been given oodles of choice and information about this latest beauty essential. Today, I’ll be reviewing one of those choices: the Spin For Perfect Skin. I’ll also try to do a little bit of a comparison between the two brushes during the review.
